Household observation journal

Know where bugs keep coming back.

Bug Window helps you calmly record household pest sightings, the exact places where they appear, and the small fixes you try over time. It is built for practical home notes, not professional pest-control diagnosis.

Offline No accounts, backend or sync flow.
Zones Track sinks, drains, shelves, windows and doors.
Fixes Compare cleanups, traps, sealing and follow-ups.
01

A quiet workflow for real home moments.

Open the app after a sighting, add a note in seconds, then later record what you tried and whether the same place stayed calm.

1

Add the place

Create concrete household points such as Kitchen sink, Pantry shelf, Bathroom drain or Balcony door.

2

Log the sighting

Record pest type, time bucket, severity, estimated count, possible source hint, notes and optional photos.

3

Track the fix

Save actions such as Trap, Deep clean, Seal gap, Remove food source, Take out trash or Drain clean.

4

Review patterns

See which zones repeat most, what changed against the previous window, and which fixes had no observed repeat.

02

Feature areas without the noise.

Bug Window focuses on clear household records and simple metrics. It does not make medical, toxicological or professional extermination claims.

Home overview

Hot spots, recent activity and follow-ups in one place.

The Home area is designed around quick actions and household awareness: add a sighting, add a fix, review active hot spots from the last 7 days, and spot fixes that need a check-in.

H Active hot spotsZones are ranked by actual sighting count and recent activity, without hidden scoring.
R Recent activitySightings and fixes appear together as a practical household timeline.
F Needs follow-upFixes with a review window can be checked after the chosen number of days.
Sightings

A complete event journal.

Filter by room, zone, pest kind, severity, period and photo availability. Use list or compact calendar style views.

Fixes

See what happened after an action.

Each fix can show No follow-up yet, No repeat in window, or Repeated after a number of days.

Analytics

Simple numbers from real records.

Review recurrence by space, change versus previous window, common pests, time bucket patterns and fix outcomes.

Spaces

Manage the exact points around the home.

Group zones by room, archive old points, open a zone history, and add new sightings or fixes from that context.

03

Offline-first by design.

The app concept is built around local household records: quick to enter, easy to export, and not dependent on a remote service.

Local utility, not a cloud platform.

Bug Window is planned as an iPhone utility with local storage for zones, pest kinds, sightings, fixes and settings. Photo attachments are treated as local files, with stored records keeping file paths rather than uploading images to a server.

No account flow No sign-up is needed for the core journal.
No backend sync The app is not structured around remote synchronization.
JSON export Settings include export of saved records for personal use.
Household points

Room name, zone name, notes, creation date, sorting and archive state.

Sighting records

Pest type, date, time bucket, severity, count estimate, source hint, notes and optional photo paths.

Fix records

Action type, effort level, cost level, related pest kind, follow-up days, notes and optional photo paths.

04

What this app is, and what it is not.

Bug Window is made for personal home tracking. It helps organize observations; it does not replace professional inspection, treatment or safety advice.

Good fit

Personal pattern tracking.

Use it when you want to remember where something appeared, what you tried, and whether a calmer interval followed.

Not a claim engine

No false certainty.

The app avoids expert conclusions. It shows your history and simple derived metrics, then leaves interpretation to you.

For everyday speed

Built for quick entry.

The main scenario is designed around adding a sighting or a fix in a short moment, without opening a complex professional form.

iPhone utility

Clean SwiftUI direction.

The visual direction combines dark glass panels, aqua glow, lime accents and amber warning states to match the Bug Window privacy page.
